Security
PCI DSS
PCI-DSS is a proprietary information security standard for organisations that handle credit card transactions. Whilst NEXTDC does not, of itself, have the requirement to get certified for PCI-DSS purposes, as a data centre service provider, we do manage controls that form part of our customers’ PCI-DSS requirements. All* NEXTDC facilities are certified to PCI-DSS. The scope of NEXTDC’s certification covers controls managed by NEXTDC as a data centre service provider (Physical Security and availability of data centres).
SOC 1 & 2
NEXTDC has issued SOC1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 assurance reports for all1 its facilities. SOC 1 Type 2 Reports are issued to support our customers in their annual financial audits. It provides assurance on the controls at NEXTDC relevant to the internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) for our customers. SOC2 assurance reports reflects NEXTDC’s ability to meet the Trusted Services Criteria for Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality and Privacy. It examines how, as an organisation, NEXTDC designs and operates the controls in these areas
DTA Certified

NEXTDC’s entire national data centre fleet is Certified Strategic by the DTA and thereby positioned to deliver the highest levels of security and sovereignty for Government systems and data.
Defence Industry Security Program (DISP)
The Defence Industry Security Program (DISP), which is overseen by the Defence Industry Security Office (DISO), signifies that Australian businesses have undergone thorough security vetting. This membership indicates that they possess the necessary understanding and capability to fulfill their security obligations when participating in Defence projects, contracts, and tenders. In essence, DISP membership demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining the highest level of security standards in their operations.
Australian Government Security Cleared Personnel
Under the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework, individuals who need access to security classified resources must hold a security clearance. The process required to obtain a security clearance is known as security vetting and is conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency. The purpose of security vetting is to determine whether an individual is suitable to hold a security clearance, that is, whether they possess and demonstrate an appropriate level of integrity. At NEXTDC, we ensure that a substantial number of vetted personnel are present across all our facilities to meet the Government's requirements.
SCEC Designed and Built Data Centres for Government
The Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC) is a standing interdepartmental committee responsible for evaluating and endorsing security equipment for use by Australian Commonwealth departments and agencies. NEXTDC's data centers have been designed and constructed in partnership with SCEC-endorsed consultants to achieve accreditation to the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and ASIO Technical Note 1/15 – Physical Security of Zones requirements, including electronic access controls enabling NEXTDC sites to be managed as high security facilities.
