As reported by ARN, Barracuda Networks, a leading provider of cloud-connected security and storage solutions, has announced that its local Australian cloud storage for Barracuda Backup customers is live. Hosted in NEXTDC's S1 Sydney data centre, Barracuda customers are now supported Australia-wide with Barracuda Backup’s secure, scalable and redundant cloud-enabled solution.
“Being able to offer our local Australian customers security, performance and a nationally consistent experience is increasingly important as those customers continue to migrate to the cloud and want their critical backup data hosted primarily in-country,” said Jeff Hurmuses, VP of Asia Pacific, Barracuda.
NEXTDC's CEO Craig Scroggie commented on Barracuda's expanding reach and service offer in Australia, “It is dynamic organisations like Barracuda who have brought the benefits of cloud computing into the mainstream by offering such secure and reliable services. Data sovereignty is a major issue for many organisations, and critical data backup is an essential concern, so Barracuda's local presence will be welcomed.”
The S1 Sydney data centre also will support Barracuda’s Cloud LiveBoot™ for VMware®, which enables a virtual machine to be booted directly in the Barracuda Cloud from de-duplicated backup storage.
Barracuda said it intends to expand its sales and marketing opportunity to public and private sector organisations that prefer in-region facilities for primary cloud storage.
