NEXTDC history

May 2010: NEXTDC was established by one of Australia’s most successful information technology and internet entrepreneurs, Mr Bevan Slattery, to build and operate carrier and vendor neutral data centres in Australia and New Zealand. NEXTDC’s operations consisted solely of the establishment of the Company and the acquisition and development of data centre facilities and the recruitment of a high-performing team.

 

May 2010: Founded by Bevan Slattery

December 2010: Listed on the ASX after acquiring properties in Brisbane and Melbourne.

 

March 2011: Acquired Sydney property.

April 2011: Acquired Perth property.

July 2011: Entered into long-term operating lease for Canberra data centre facility.

October 2011: B1 Brisbane data centre went live, Queensland's most fibre-connected data centre.

 

June 2012: Craig Scroggie took the role of Chief Executive Officer. Mr Slattery became non-executive Deputy Chairman.

July 2012: M1 Melbourne data centre went live, the largest independent data centre in Victoria.

August 2012: C1 Canberra data centre went live.

 

January 2013: Completed the sale of M1, S1, and P1 property assets to APDC (ASX:AJD)

February - April 2013: Significant customer signings including Optus, Australia Post, and Pacnet.

June 2013: Leading Corporation signed A$60m over 5 years.

September 2013: S1 Sydney data centre went live, changes to the board, Bevan Slattery retired.

December 2013: Signed channel partner agreement with Telstra.

 

February 2014: P1 Perth data centre went live.

July 2014: Admitted to Australian Government Data Centre Facilities Supplies Panel in Canberra.

December 2014: Major International customer signed a 1MW deal at S1.

 

February 2015: Maiden profit result, achieving A$3m EBITDA IN 1H2015.

February 2015: Announces ExpressRoute partnership with Microsoft

June 2015: 4MW deal announced with leading Corporation.

July 2015: Announced AXON virtual connectivity platform.

August 2015: Federal Government contract wins 6 years, $35m.

October 2015: AXON platform general ability.

November 2015: Announced plans for B2 and M2.

December 2015: Announced IBM Direct Link hosting location at M1.

 

January 2016: Launched AWS Direct Connect hosting location at M1.

February 2016: EBITDA up 279% in 1H2016.

March 2016: ONEDC DCIMaaS general availability.

May 2016: Acquired properties for B2 and M2.

June 2016: M1 Melbourne data centre awarded 4.5 NABERS rating, Australia's first for data centre infrastructure.

September 2016: Announced plans for S2.

 


February 2017: P1 Perth data centre achieved Tier III Gold Certification of Operation Sustainability.

April 2017: NEXTDC’s B2 Brisbane data centre achieved UTI Tier IV certification for design documents and constructed facility

May 2017: Sydney S1 data centre achieves 4.5 NABERS rating for energy efficiency

June 2017: Launched AWS Direct Connect hosting location at C1

September 2017: B2 opens - Australia's first Tier IV Certified Design and Constructed data centre is opened in Brisbane

October 2017: AWS Direct Connect launches hosting location in P1

November 2017: M2 opens - Victoria's first UTI Tier IV certified data centre

 

February 2018: Record results for 1H18. Announced expanded cloud offering with Oracle Cloud

March 2018: S1 achieved UTI Tier III Gold certification for operational sustainability

April 2018: Announced plans for S3, M3, and P2

July 2018: Launched Google Cloud Dedicated and Partner Interconnects at S1

August 2018: Launched Corporate Sustainability Program. B2 achieved Tier IV Gold Certification of Operational Sustainability

September 2018: Named Frost & Sullivan data centre "Champion" in FrostIQ quadrant.

November 2018: Announced Superloop to connect INDIGO subsea cable to P1, P2, S1, and S2

December 2018: The P2 Microsite enables a fully functioning interconnect location for Perth customers.

 

January 2019: Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute connected to P1

March 2019: M1 Mebourne achieves NABERS 5-Star rating

March 2019: NEXTDC corporate operations certified carbon neutral under the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS).
